Latham and Chapel

On Tuesday, we started planting at the Latham gardens on the hill between the dining hall and the Walker Building.  We pulled up all the pansies and saved the bulbs as usual.  After pulling everything up, picking out all the smaller weeds and growth, and smoothing out the soil to get it ready for planting, we planted a variety of flowers in the main bed and the elevated bed.  Mrs. Allen was able to almost solely focus on picking out the plants and putting them in proper spots to create visual interest because we planted them almost as quickly as she could put them down.

After finishing up over there, we took our break and headed back to the shop, and after break, we loaded up a fresh load of flowers to take over to the Residence.  We planted underneath the roses on the sides of the pathway which leads to the Oval Garden from the house itself.  After finishing up there, Mrs. Allen sent Rocco and me back to the shop to grab the blower to clean up the Latham garden area and the area where we just planted while she and Camryn headed over to the chapel to start pulling the beds up.  Rocco and I got the blower from the shop and quickly blew the areas clear.  The Latham gardens especially looked great as we came back to see it finished after a little time had passed.  This is something I've noticed happening a lot.  Whenever we finish working on a bed or a garden, I look at it as we are leaving without really noticing it or appreciating the difference at all. This time, though, when we came back just a few hours later, I remember what it looked like before and immediatelynoticed how great it looked.

After cleaning those areas up, we headed over the chapel where we helped them finish pulling the pansies and saving the bulbs before we planted one side of the garden.  We pulled the other bed of the garden up the same way, and by the time we finished that and took it to the dump, it was time for lunch.
