Origins and Beginnings

Rocco and I began our work on the Woodberry Grounds Crew today.  Our daily plan is to wake up, be at breakfast by 7:15, and be at the grounds crew shop by 7:30.  From there, we will work with the school's horticulturalist, Wendy Allen, doing whatever she needs us to do.  After working, we are going to write daily on this blog about not only the work that we do, but also about the stories we hear, the people we meet, and anything that comes to our attention.  This idea started as a joke quite literally.  Rocco and I joked about taking a gap year to work on the grounds crew because through all of our interactions with the men who work on the grounds, we have realized how smart, talented, and downright hilarious those guys are.  This idea almost remained simply a joke, until Rocco talked Dr. Erb and Mr. Amos encouraged us to pitch this idea to Mr. Blain as a Senior Distinction.  Since then we talked to Mr. Blain, Mr. Clements, and Mrs. Allen about working out the details, and with their cooperation, we were able to get it approved and started work this morning at 7:30.
