Beginning of Week Two

As I was in class until 9:30, Thomas was out helping Wendy and Keith Johnson. He first dug up a couple hostas around Mr. and Mrs. Blundin's new house and potted them so Mrs. Allen could save them and use them elsewhere. After that, Mr. Johnson was leveling the ground around the house where dirt had been piled because of pipes that had been laid. This would help water run away from the house and prevent future damage. As Mr. Johnson was using the backhoe, Thomas removed the large, dug up rocks and roots to make for a clean, flat surface to plant grass. At this point I showed up and finished up with Thomas. Afterward, we removed all the slate rock sheets from around the house and any other rocks or trash. We brought the load behind the grounds shop where we added the slate to the stacks and drove the rest of the rocks to a dirt dump site. Because we had a such a heavy load in the back of our buggie, Scott noticed our tires were riding low, and so he showed us where to fill them.

I was surprised to see how much Woodberry's maintenance and grounds departments could do on a project such as remodeling the Blundin's house. They had inserted pipelines, leveled the landscape, planted and removed plants, and even extended the patio. There's almost nothing these guys couldn't do when working on a project together.
